Yavapai Community College announced on Wednesday that it will have a special performance of “Theodore Roosevelt” at the Charles Mavery Pavilion on the Verde campus in Clarkdale at 7 p.m. on October 17. Tickets for the performance Friday night are $10. Saturday night’s show at the Performance Center on the Prescott campus will cost you $26 to $36.
The Community College says in its press release that “TR has been energetically brought back to life by Derek Evans in performances from the White House Visitor Center to grade school classrooms, museums and theaters across the United States. . . . [You will] be transported to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Learn about Teddy Roosevelt’s early life; military career; organization of the Rough Riders; his friendship with former Prescott Mayor, Buckey O’Neill; and his Presidency as steward of the people.”

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is sponsoring a fall Arts and Crafts Fair on the Verde campus, 601 Black Hills Drive, Clarkdale on Saturday October 11. The fair will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
OLLI says there will be over 25 local artists and crafters at the fair. There will be a kids art area, a magician, Yo Yo demonstrations, storytelling, face painting, and more. Dave Rentz and other local musicians will provide the entertainment as you enjoy the arts and crafts creations by local artists. This event is a fundraiser for OLLI scholarships.
The Verde Valley D.R.E.A.M. Job Fair will be held Wednesday, October 8th, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., on the Yavapai Community College Verde Campus in Clarkdale in building M, Room 137. The event provides a free job and networking opportunity for people with disabilities, veterans, and the under-employed in the Verde Valley.

The Arizona Supreme Court will hold oral arguments on an actual case Tuesday, September 30, 2014, on the stage at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. This provides an opportunity for students and members of the public to observe the Court and attorneys presenting an appeal to the state’s highest court. Arguments by the lawyers will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. If you plan to attend, you are asked to arrive not later than 10:05 a.m. at the Center.
One case will be argued and attorneys representing each side will be given 20 minutes to present their case.

The Yavapai Community College Performing Arts Center on the Prescott campus has announced that it is adding a wine dinner as a component of its upcoming season of performances. The first fall session of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute’s (OLLI’s) “Lunch & Learn” program will be devoted to discussing issues related to community college education in the Verde Valley. The program, free and open to the public, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in room 34 of the Sedona Center (across Rte. 89A from Red Rock High School).
Guests are invited to bring their lunch or come for complimentary coffee, tea, water and a little snack. An informal discussion begins at 12:30 p.m., followed by speaker presentations starting at 1 p.m. The session is titled “Moving Forward: Visions for Yavapai College’s Sedona Center.” The discussion is related to Yavapai College’s formation of a committee to provide ideas for community college education in the Verde Valley. The committee will include representatives from Sedona, and the Oct. 1 program is intended to identify ideas that Sedona’s representatives might bring to the committee.
Brief presentations, followed by discussions, will be made by: Rob Adams, City of Sedona mayor; Linda Buchanan, community education coordinator on the Verde Valley Campus; Dave Lykins, superintendent of Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District; James Perey, executive dean of the Yavapai College Verde Valley Campus; Mike Raber, City of Sedona senior planner and chair of Western Gateway Community Focus Area Work Group; Robin Weeks, OLLI director/coordinator; Jennifer Wesselhoff, president/CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce; and Ruth Wicks, Verde Valley Community College advisory committee member.

The Yavapai Community College Verde campus Art Gallery in Clarkdale will present the “Radical Center” exhibition from September 29 to October 23. The exhibit features the works of artists Rose Moon, Cathy Gazda, and Paul Gazda.
There will be an opening reception on Thursday, October 2 from 5-7 p.m. The Verde Valley campus Art Gallery’s hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and it is closed Friday through Sunday. For more information, please click here.
