Irish tenor of the year Emmet Cahill to perform at 7 p.m.
Yavapai Community College and the Cottonwood Old Town Center have joined together in
bringing Emmet Cahill to Cottonwood for a one-night concert at Cottonwood’s Old Town Center for the Arts on April 27. The concert begins at 7 PM.
Emmet Cahill is the 26 year-old County Westmeath native who is described as having taken “the Emerald Isle by storm.” He was a musical prodigy at the age of five. He trained at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, which named him its “Most Promising Young Singer” in 2010.
He is a winner of multiple national singing competitions who has performed in Dublin’s National Concert Hall. He was named the Irish Music Association’s “Irish Tenor of the Year” in 2013.

The “Well Dressed Wolves” contemporary Rock Band will help students celebrate the end of the school year with live music from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Mabery Pavilion on the Verde Valley Campus May 2. The public is invited and admission is free.

In an effort to raise awareness about sexual assault and its prevention and in conjunction with recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Yavapai Community College, Verde Valley Campus will host a series of speakers, presentations, resources and more on Wednesday, April 3.
According to advertisements in the local newspapers, Yavapai Community College is offering workshops to help jobseekers in the County. The first is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, at 11 AM. The Community College announced in a press release that there will be a College Jazz Big Bands concert Friday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood. The concert will “include the ‘Roughriders’ and the ‘Trailblazers,’ who will present a night of big band sounds that will send you back in time. Swing rhythms, soulful saxophones, and punchy brasses combine to make this an evening of classics that define the genre. Greats from across the ages will be performed.”
Yavapai Community College has announced it will be hosting a pair of open-house style meetings Thursday, March 7, at the Verde Valley Campus. The purpose of the meetings is to review plans for Building “L.” The College has explained that the meetings will allow interested citizens to review the building design with the construction team, Community College faculty and staff.
The Yavapai Community College Governing Board will hold its general monthly Board meeting beginning at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in the Rock House, 1100 E. Sheldon St., Prescott.
Members of the public who are interested in doing business with Yavapai Community College or the government in general are invited to attend a free conference Friday, March 1, on the Prescott Campus located at 1100 E. Sheldon St. The blog is unaware of a similar conference being scheduled for the east side of the County.
